Green Street Community Center
Part wellness hub, part youth center.
Set in a building that once housed part of Clark Elementary, the Green Street Community Center has become a daily fixture in the neighborhood — a place where young people find support after school, parents find practical help, and families find the essentials they need.
Mrs. Jacqueline Denson
Dallas County System of Services is pleased to introduce Mrs. Jacqueline Denson as Director of the Green Street Community Center. She brings valuable experience in strengthening families through the DCSOS Familyhood program.
Under her leadership, the center places a renewed emphasis on family wellness, youth development, education and community engagement — with programs built to strengthen families and enrich the lives of Dallas County residents.
“We want to be productive instead of reactive.” Jacqueline Denson, Director
No judgement, no pressure
Beyond the structured programming, the center is simply somewhere young people can be. Kids come by after school to relax and spend time with people who know them — and staff work to make sure they leave knowing they are cared about.
“We’re just trying to provide a safe place for the kids without any judgement.” Jacqueline Denson, Director

Meeting the everyday need
Staff kept noticing that children dropping in needed everyday essentials — cloths, shoes, food. The on-site pantry grew directly out of that.
The pantry currently supplies dry goods and canned items on an as-needed basis to families identified through the center’s programs. A refrigerator and freezer are planned, which will let the pantry offer a wider range of food.
A place where families grow stronger.
The Green Street Community Center is more than a place for activities. It is where young people discover opportunities and neighbors come together to build a better community.
