As we move through life, our paths are shaped by different backgrounds, different battles, and different support systems. Yet some individuals find the strength to push through the moments that could have broken them, emerging stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever before.
Today, the Dallas County System of Services A-Reset Program is honored to share the story of a young woman whose resilience and determination serve as a reminder that your circumstances do not have to define your future.
Her journey reflects what strength truly looks like. Through setbacks, uncertainty, and unstable conditions, she kept moving forward, taking intentional steps to rebuild her life one day at a time.
Her story is for anyone who feels tired, uncertain, discouraged, or stuck in the process of rebuilding. It is proof that even during life’s darkest moments, hope and transformation are still possible.
At DCSoS, we believe people are more than the struggles they face. Through education, workforce development, vocational training, and life skills support, we are helping individuals rediscover possibility, purpose, and self-sufficiency.
Client Spotlight: Leticia Delangel
“I grew up feeling different, a quiet goth girl in rural Alabama, trying to figure out where I belonged in the world. After leaving Auburn University to avoid overwhelming debt, I found myself drifting between relatives’ homes, doing everything I could just to stay afloat.
When financial hardship hit the household where I was staying, I suddenly had nowhere to go. I had no safety net, no real support system, and eventually homelessness became my reality.
The hardest part wasn’t the struggle itself, it was realizing that some of the people I had once helped were not there for me when I needed them most. That heartbreak forced me to reevaluate relationships and search for healthier, more uplifting connections.
But that painful season became my turning point.
I decided that if no one was coming to save me, I would save myself. I learned how to advocate for my needs, find resources, and rebuild my life from the ground up. Over time, I became stronger, more resilient, and more determined than I ever imagined possible. Today, I am a strong, independent 29-year-old woman who has taken control of her own story.
Life is like a train moving from station to station, with each stop representing lessons that shape who we become. At some point, I realized I no longer wanted to be a passenger in my own life. I chose to become the conductor, taking control of my direction, my choices, and my future.
Because of programs like A-Reset, I’m no longer just surviving, I’m building stability, confidence, and a future I once thought was out of reach.
I have a deep love for animals, and my dream is to work as a veterinary assistant and eventually continue my education in veterinary science. With patience, faith, and hard work, I believe I can achieve my goals, including going from homeless to homeowner.
My message is simple: Keep going. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
There are good people and programs willing to help. If you’re struggling, please know this, your story is not over. You can rebuild, heal, and become stronger than the challenges you’ve faced.
This program helped me find my footing, and I hope my story encourages someone else to find theirs.
Kindness still matters. And sometimes, kindness can change a life. ❤️”
